Amsterdam en Route

Well - as promised here's blog one. We had a 7 hour layover in Amsterdam which we were fairly excited about because Brent, Ian and I had never been - we usually fly through London Heathrow to Warsaw.
When we got there it was cold, windy and raining. Brent was under equiped for the weather clothing wise but took it like a man...lol

Of course, you have to hit the 'Red Light District'. Who doesn't...? Literally. There were families with thier kids walking by ...'oh look son, that's a hooker!!!' What a strange thing to behold...

For those of you who haven't been, the area is huge - blocks of this stuff.... The girls are displayed in 'show room' windows of sorts and....well... let's just say it's interesting, I'm glad I saw it, but it's nothing need to see again. I would've liked to have published photos, but of course, cameras are not allowed.

Of course there's always the live 'Sex Shows' and there is literally hundreds of 'sex stores' featuring the most outrageous stuff I've ever seen...I consider myself to be a 'liberal thinker' with a 'puritanical' background, so while this amuses me, it horrifies me at the same time lol.

What trip to Amsterdam
would be complete without at least 'looking upon the (shall we say) relaxed drug laws....?
We, of course had to walk into a couple of 'pot bars' which was wild in itself, Those that know me know that i don't partake in the 'herb' as it were, so the very 'presence' of it can get me off it seems. Luckily we didn't stay for long...however i did get a shot of a vending machine selling 'magic mushrooms' and a store advertising it's wares....

Imagine this in North America...(mind you, in all fairness, Vancouver is getting pretty close...)

Well - with all this being said, this traveler had better get some sleep. I just had the best cheese and crackers before bed I have ever had....

I know I know * I'm spoiled....
